The yearly pedal

5/14/08—It's Bike to Work Day. Again.

By Talia Salem

Tomorrow, bust out your dusty helmet, roll up your jeans, and pump up your tires for San Francisco Bicycle Coalition's annual Bike to Work Day. You'll be joined by thousands of two-wheeled commuters (including our helmet-donning fearless leader, Gavin Newsom) who spare the air and save on commuting costs everyday. Problem is, the last time you rode a bike was in the 20th century. Don’t worry, with 25 energizing stations around the city serving free coffee, snacks, and bags for your commute, biking to work is a walk in the park.

At the end of the day, head over to SFBC’s Bike Away From Work Party at Rickshaw Stop and have your bike valeted for free. Boogie down with DJs Toph One and EmDee, and enter the raffle to win a Cannondale bike or tickets to Burning Man. No Cover, 6-10 p.m. The Rickshaw Stop, 155 Fell St., 861-2011
