Playing baseball
Scottsdale, Arizona
Spring training. These two words evoke a mound of good things to come for baseball fans. But what’s it like for the players? Find out in January at the San Francisco Giants Fantasy Camp in Scottsdale, Arizona, run by former Giants pitcher Bill Laskey. The weeklong camp enables adult baseball fans to become players, form teams, and compete against one another in a round-robin tournament. You’ll spend the week honing your skills with tips from former and current pros (and competing against them in different contests), playing at least one game each day, and, of course, relaxing amid the luxury of Scottsdale’s Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak resort. By the end of the week, you’ll be looking to sign with the Giants—hey, with half the team past the first blush of youth, you’ll fit right in.
Having a great time! “I’ve been on four cruises, even through the Panama Canal, but Giants Fantasy Camp was my all-time favorite vacation. I got a hit off Vida Blue, and Rich Murray was my date to the banquet!” says Martinez softball coach Sue Hanson.
