Mill Valley photographer Brown W. Cannon III is pushing the envelope by combining his love of still images with his favorite pastime: surfing. After printing his images of jellyfish and aerial coastline shots, Cannon commissions shapers in Capitola to sandwich them between the foam core and the fiberglass exterior of longboards. The results—displayed at a gallery show this spring in San Francisco—proved so stunning that he’s already booked additional shows over the next year in Southern California and Bolinas. Proceeds benefit the Creative Visions Foundation and ocean-preservation organizations, such as the Surfrider Foundation and Sausalito’s Marine Mammal Center.
